How to Check Test Quality of Poly Coveralls

If you are using those white spunbound polyethylene coveralls at some point you might be considering buying another brand. Maybe you want to check the quality of other coveralls or maybe you want to do a cost comparison in hopes of saving money. Whether you are considering Alpha Guard, Alpha Pro Tech (same as Alpha Guard), Dupont Tyvek, 3M or other brands and manufacturers, you'll definitely want to do a comparison test of your current coverall versus the new brand you are considering buying.

So, how do you test the quality of white polyethylene coveralls? This is a hard question to answer as your company might use those white Tyvek or Tyvek-like coveralls in a different manner than the company I work for does.

Some wear polyethylene coveralls to protect clothing and skin from debris and other splatter (maintenance, site clean up, construction workers, etc). Others wear poly coveralls in a more clean room (or clean room-esque) environment where they want to avoid having any lint, strings from clothes, hair, etc fall off the person and into the product (food process workers, pharmaceuticals, etc)

So how do you test a potentially new brand of coverall? Well, first, let's presume you need the same style. For the sake of this article, we are talking serged seamed, spunbound, white, polyethylene coveralls that have elastic wrists and cuffs as well as a hood that fits via elastic snug around face.

Second, as a disclaimer, I can't say for sure this test method will work the same way for you. The way I test does not include any worry about hazardous chemicals or other hazard debris since we don't use any. If you are using dangerous chemicals or debris that can cause harm to a person, consult an available safety expert (your plant safety officer or contact manufacturer directly for advise). This person will likely ask for some sort of chemical comparability testing that I can not inform you on.

The only use I have for the coveralls is in an industrial environment where non hazardous inks might come in contact with our employees. We wear the coveralls to help them keep clean and to also help prevent any skin, hair, threads, etc from falling into the product.

Here are a couple of thoughts on how I compare two competitive coveralls to see if they are of equivalent quality

1. Take one of each kind of coverall and lay them side by side. Do they look to be the same size that you are already accustomed too?

2. Take your current coverall and try to tear it and note how easily it tears. You might want to try puncturing it too with your finger for example and note how easily it tears. Repeat the same step with the potential new coverall.

3. Look at the seams of each coverall. Do the appear sewn together well?

4. Look for loose threads. This is a big factor depending on what kind of business you are in. If the risk of a loose thread getting into your product is a big deal, check carefully. Some coverall manufacturers leave threads hanging on every product, others keep it pretty clean and tight with no threads.

5. Check the elastic wrists and ankles. Do they seem to be sewn well. Some makers do this part more sloppy with hanging threads and the end of the elastic hangs loose as well. Others are more tight.

6. Check for fit. Have your employees wear them. Are they easier or harder to put on? Get off? Do they fit well or too tight/loose? Do the elastic bands fit too snug or, worse, not snug at all?

7. Temperature. Also find out if the new coverall is too hot to wear. You'll always get real hot in a coverall but some are much worse (less breathable) than others. Take note of this as well.
I hope that helps. If you are one of the many users of Tyvek coveralls here is a brand that competes with Dupont Tyvek Coveralls.  Check it out as this might give you another option to look at to save money or improve performance on coveralls.

How To Order 90 Day Supply Medco Express Scripts

You can get your prescriptions via the drug store / supermarket pharmacist but that tends to be more expensive if you are looking for medicines over the long term. For example I had a 30 day prescription that I picked up for $45 at the pharmacy and it turns out now I need a 90 day prescription and I might need subsequent ones after that. I could go back to the pharmacy each time the 30 day dosage runs out (ie I'd go 3 times every 30 days for a 90 day supply of medicine) but it really adds. Up 3 x $45 = $135 is a lot of money and a lot of waiting around while the pharmacy fills my order.

Instead you can get 90 day supplies filled through your Medco / Express Script drug insurance company if you are still a member for typically way less than the cost of going to the pharmacist three times. For example the 3 pharmacy visits totalling $135 only cost me $55 total through mail order for a 90 day amount of doses.

Don't worry, I don't have a particularly deadly or rare illness but even if you have something worse than I do, this is a big help and you don't have to leave home and wait around.

Probably the best way to do this is to go on line at Express - Scripts . com , sign in and find a mail order form. If you don't know your sign in or if you don't want to bother with a form, you can just fill out this information on a piece of paper and send with your original prescription form. I recommend that you make a photocopy of both the form and the prescription note the doctor gave you for your own records. Be sure to send theoriginal prescription to the address they give you though.

I just got this information today 2/7/13, be sure to call your Medco Express Scripts insurance company to be sure that you are still doing the right thing if you are reading this much later. Sometimes policies change etc

Here are the steps. Pretty easy:

Step 1 - Make sure you have at least a 14 day supply of meds before ordering. The mail order process takes about this much time. If you don't, ask your doctor if he has free samples to carry you over or get a (paid) prescription to cover your time until the post office delivers to your home.

Step 2 - Go on line if you have an on line account and fill out the form

or....

Contact your provider (Medco Express Scripts), get their fax number for mail order medicine and have doctor's office fax to them

or.... this is what I did....

Skip printing out the form and skip the faxing and instead write / type on a sheet of paper:

a) Your member ID as shown on your card

b) Mailing address where you want the medicine sent

c) Number they can call you during the day

d) Your Full Name

e) Your date of birth

f) Your doctor's name and phone number

Step 3 - Put in an envelope along with the ORIGINAL prescription (again, I suggest making a copy for yourself)

Step 4 - Then Mail with Proper Postage To:

Contact your provider for the most current address. I'd give it to you here but with my luck it might be different for your location

Ever Get a Colon Exam? My Thoughts On What Happend To Me

Step 5 - Important note here. I guess it depends on your Express Script / Medco plan but with mine the prescriptions are not completely free. You'll need to pay a certain amount that the insurance does cover. If this amount you need to pay is under a certain amount (mine was under$100 but could be different for you depending on your insurance plan), Express Scripts / Medco will send you a bill that you can pay with check, credit card, etc. If it is over $100 (again, might be different from you depending on which plan, if there are different coverage plans, you are on,) this could delay things a bit and the insurer ( Medco / ExpressScript ) will then ask you for payment first before processing. You can contact their customer service team if you want to know what this is going to cost you or if you need more details.
That is it. I hope that helped you to learn how to order a 90 day supply Medco Express Script

Urinal Cartridge Sealant Purpose

There are some things that you do not want to skip when you are maintaining your water free urinal systems. The big one is that you want to ensure that you have the right waterless cartridge inserted into your water free urinal. If you do not have this cartridge installed you have completely undermined the entire purpose of having a water free system that is clean, without odor, and less wear and tear on the plumbing.

If you do have the right urinal cartridge installed, then congratulations, you are almost there. The next thing you don't want to cut corners on is the sealant. Each waterfree urinal cartridge kit comes with a pack of sealant (my guess is that you can buy them separately but the Sloan WES 150 we use comes with sealant and a whole lot more). This sealant is typically blue and has a nice smell to it. The sealant is very important for the proper operation of your cartridge.

The cartridge is designed to trap certain uric by product (sediments from pee) that cause odors and are tough on your drain and plumbing. The cartridge also prevents people from jamming the drain with other objects not meant to go down it (such as litter). This prevents the stink and smell of clogs and a backed up urinal.

When you install a new cartridge you want to fill it with sealant. The sealant actually seals the filter. It basically fills in the rest of the area of the cartridge filters that would normally permit odors to escape. The cartridge has a small hole in the top that allows urine to run down the drain. The sealant fills this hole and the rest of the passageway in the cartridge. Filling this hole prevents odor from backing up from the drain and out the filter. The sealant is able to do this and not wash way because of 1) The design of the cartridge and 2) the sealant has less viscosity less dense than most liquids such as urine and holds its ground pretty good. This allows the flow of urine to pass through the sealant and down the drain, while the sealant remains in place and prevents the smell of the drain from creeping back into the bathroom.

That is the basic urinal cartridge sealant purpose. Hopefully this explains how the sealant works and what it is meant to do.

Thanks for stopping by and reading this post.  If you want to learn more about these urinal filters, check out my post that easily navigates you through a problem you might have if the cartridge cap ever breaks.  Check out my  Where Do I Find a New Sloan Cartridge Cap  article.... or the what is that top on the Slaon filter called post

How to Put In WES 150 155 Waterless Sloan Cartridges

WES 150 Filter Cartridge in Urinal
Installing a New WES 150 or WES 155 Water Free Sloan Bathroom Cartridges

There are better posts out there on putting new cartridges into your water free / waterless bathrooms. I'm more experienced with the Sloan brand waterless systems but this might apply to others as well.

Properly installing new cartridge at their recommended flush amount will ensure you are protecting your system, drain, and plumbing as well as perhaps helping the environment and definitely reducing odors. These steps are mainly for the WES 150 and WES 155 that we use at work but this might work for other systems you may choose as well

Buying The Right Kit

Replacement urinal cartridges are not cheap. This isn't a five dollar item. You want to be absolutely certain that you are buying the right kit to fit your urinal. Just as important, you want to buy a kit that comes with all the necessary tools, especially if you don't have these tools.

Be sure each kit comes with:

The water free urinal cartridge (of course ;-)

Disposable Bag(s)

Disposable gloves

Nylon Trap Brush

Bag(s) of Sealant

A Cartridge tool that lets you install and uninstall the cartridge

Step 1 - Put Rubber Gloves on! Then put Insert the Tool into the holes of the cartridge. Then let go of the tool. Don't pull anything out yet. If the holes are covered by a circular disk, that disk is called the diverter. You'll need to use gloves and remove that first. Sloane (Falcon) stopped making these discs so you might not see it anymore

Step 2 - Get 4 liters ( 1 gallon ) of soapy water and pour it into the drain. This is to get the urine out of the cartridge (ie displace it ). Note, this is why we put the tool in first (step 1) . If you put the soapy water in first you might have trouble seeing the holes (let alone get the disk off if it is there)

Step 3 - Get one of those disposable bags ready nearby.

Step 4 - Grabbing the tool by the handle (your gloves are on by now right?) turn the tool counter-clockwise until the cartridge unlocks.

Step 5 - Pull the cartridge out from the drain hole it sits in but DO NOT take it all the way out of the drain hole. With the tool still in, pour the liquids out of the cartridge and down the drain. Don't worry, any harmful, non-green, etc sediment etc should remain trapped in the cartridge so don't worry about pouring the liquid down.

Step 6 - With no more liquid coming out, but the cartridge into the bag and close up the bag.

Where to Purchase Cartridges and More Great Info

Step 7 - Get that nylon brush ( 1 1/2 inches wide brush) and scrub down into the drain and push the brush into the drain to the point you can't see the brush and keep scrubbing. Scrub that entire horizontal area that runs behind the drain (portion you can't see)

Step 8 - remove the brush. Prepare 5 gallons (20 liters ) of hot soapy water. You don't have to boil it (I've been asked this) just use hot tap water as hot as you can get it. Pour it down the drain.

LG Smart Cell Phone Language From Spanish to English

So the other day I'm using my Lucid LG smart phone and suddenly the phone gets way too smart for me.  It started "speaking" another language.

I'm not sure what I did but I accidentally, whether through jostling in my pocket or just from fiddling with my phone, changed the language on my Lucid LG from English to Spanish.  In other words, all of the icons, setting controls, Google page, etc, etc, etc where now in Spanish instead of English.

There are tons of sites that can teach you how to correct this but I couldn't find any that actually could teach you using and English Language to Spanish Language (and vice-versa I suppose ;-)  translation.   What I mean is, all of the fixes I found on the Internet where in English.  For example, they'll all tell you when changing your phone setting from one language to another do this:  Settings, Language and Keyboard-Language- Then pick the language of your choice.    This advise is helpful, but only if you know the Spanish translation to "settings", "language" & "keyboard", and "language."  I found with my entire phone looking like Portuguese, or Spanish or whatever, there was no easy way for me to interpret "settings", "language" & "keyboard", and "language." into Spanish.  I wound up having to go to a translation site to figure all this out.

Anyway, since I now know how to fix my phone to that all the words and voice commands are in English instead of Spanish, let me take you through the steps.

How to change LG Lucid smart phone from Spanish to English

Step 1

Are you on your home screen? Yes?  Great, now press the button on your cell phone that is located at the very lowest left area of your phone. It is the one with the square on it (actually there is one small square inside a larger one.

Step 2

Then select  "Ajustes" (ie Settings)

Step 3

Then Press "Idioma y teclado"  (ie Language and Keyboard)

Step 4

Then choose "Idioma"  (ie Language)

Step 5

Then choose English (or the language of your choice)

There! You should be all set.   I'll do a quick repeat in (mostly) Spanish here adjustes-idioma y teclado-idioma- select language you want (English or any other one available)

Four 4 Roll Wagon Wheel Toilet Paper Dispenser Good and Bad

Four (4) roll wagon wheel (turnstile) toilet paper dispensers are typically found in heavily used, high traffic bathrooms such as in the work place, restaurants, public bathrooms, etc

These dispensers are round and mounted to the side of the stall. When fully loaded the dispenser can hold up to four rolls of toilet tissue. When a roll runs out, the user can rotate the handle in the center counter clockwise until the nex
t full roll appears in the opening at the bottom.

Advantages of 4 Roll Wagon Wheel Toilet Paper Holders

One big advantage of the wagon wheel style is that is eliminates waste. Other kinds of dispensers (think of a style more similar to what you have in your bathroom at home) seem to encourage changing out rolls before they are completely used up. On non-wagon wheel dispensers, Custodial / janitorial staff might see a roll that has only 10% or 20% of the paper remaining on it and they’ll replace it right away with a new roll. Why? Because they figure it will run out soon enough anyway so may as well do it now before it runs empty. With the four roll wagon wheel, janitors are more likely to just change out the empty rolls. There are four rolls available after all so if one suddenly runs out, the other rolls are available for people to use right away.

Another advantage of this wagon wheel style is that you can usually get them for free. That is, janitorial supply companies will be glad to give them to you for nothing as long as you agree to buy their toilet paper. They can ensure that you only buy their bathroom tissue because only one kind of toilet paper will fit in the wagon wheel and that is their own, custom-sized brand. More on cornering you into one size next.

Major Disadvantage of Wagon Wheel / Turnstile Dispensers

The biggest disadvantage of wagon wheel dispensers is that it will be hard for you to bargain shop for toilet paper. The reason for this is typically only one size toilet paper roll will fit in these dispensers. You see, companies that provide these dispensers also want you to buy their toilet paper. Toilet paper can get really expensive as case after case used in public areas gets used up. This is where they make their money. If you can only buy their size it is guaranteed revenue.

The wagon wheel dispensers that I am

familiar with have a really thick diameter stem that toilet paper roll

core (that brown tube in the center of the roll) goes over. Normal store bought paper has a core that is too small to fit on the stem. Janitorial supply companies that provide these four roll turnstile dispensers for free also make sure to supply toilet paper direct from manufacturers using their own custom specifications. These custom sizes are the only sizes that will fit in these dispensers.

Before Installing The Turnstile Wagon Wheel Dispensers….

Check the size and find out what paper will fit inside. Will it only fit one kind of roll? What is the price of this specific sized roll compared to other paper you buy?

Consider this closely. There is nothing wrong with buying the turnstile version. It will cut down on waste, require less frequent loading and, if you play your cards right, you’ll get it for free. That said, will it be worth the cost of paper?

How to Make Coffee In Bunn O Matic Coffee Pot

Making coffee in a Bunn o Matic coffee pot is easy to. I am going to describe how to make a pot of coffee using a Bunn coffee maker. This article is best suited for people who are using a Bunn coffee brewer that gets its water supply directly from nearby plumbing. In other words, you press a button and water dispenses into the coffee funnel and into the pot automatically. There is no need for your to pour water into the machine yourself. This is also referred to as “direct water feed”

This article presumes that you already have the coffee maker professionally installed and properly plumbed into your water line.

This works best with Bunn equipment but might help you with other versions as well.
Here’s how to make the coffee.

Step 1

Pull Out the coffee funnel (which is that try that holds the filter and ground coffee). Discard old filter and coffee and put a new clean filter in the funnel.

Remove Coffee Funnel
Add New Clean Filter

Step 2

Put coffee in the brewer. Use the recommended amount of coffee. I use a 10 cup coffee maker so I use those pre ground and measured packs, usually 1.50 ounce packs (figure range of 1.25 to 2.25 oz works for 10 cup maker)

Step 3

Put the funnel with the new coffee filter back into the brewer where you got it from.
Step 4

Put an empty coffee pot on the burner beneath the funnel where the coffee will dispense. Make absolutely sure that the coffee pot is empty. Most , if not all, plumbed in Bunn brewers pour the correct amount of coffee into the pot by using a timer. If the pot is half full already, the brewer won’t know when to stop and it will spill over.

Step 5

There is a switch on the front of the coffee maker that turns the burner beneath the pot on. The switch lights up when it is on. Turn it on so that the burner beneath the pot will start to warm up.

Step 6

You don’t have to wait for the burner to warm up. The water will come out of the Bunn O Matic really hot to begin with. Press the black rocker switch on the front of the unit (near the burner switch) and you’ll hear the water begin to flow.

Step 7

Wait for the pot to fill up and serve.

Thanks for checking out this coffee tip on TurtleDog's Blog.  I really appreciate it.  Please read some of my other posts related to food, home, computers, and more. Thanks again!

Why Poured Water Won't Come Out Bunn Coffee Machine Brewer

Pour Over Chamber Lid (Closed)
I have to start off with a disclaimer that I don't represent bunn or claim and expertise on repairing Bunn-O-Matic Coffee machines. That said, as a coffee drinker I have used this kind of equipment heavily both to drink coffee and for professional, work purposes so I do have some knowledge on the topic ;-)

It sounds as though you have poured water through the screen at the top of your Bunn Coffee Machine and no water is coming out. There are a number of possible reasons you are not seeing water fill the coffee pot but only one that I can speak with any remote expertise (and I mean really, really "remote" expertise) and that your issue is related to how you are filling the tank.

The Model Of The Brewer
If you are using a model C Bunn coffee maker you definitely need to directly pour your own water in the equipment at the top of the machine as opposed to running it directly from you plumbing. All or most of the plumbed versions (CT, CTF, CWT, CWTA, CWTB, CWTF, CWTFA, CWTFB Single CW, Single CWF) I believe all have a 'hatch' at the top that will allow you to water directly into the machine.

How Occupancy Sensors Work - Motion Detection Lighting

If you want to know how occupancy sensors work, you've come to the right place.  We've been using motion detection lighting and it seems to work well to save energy and provide a little security.  If you want to only have the lights on when they need to be turned on, you may want  consider installing occupancy sensors.  Occupancy sensors allow the lights to turn on when someone enters the room and turns the lights off after it senses no one is left in the room.

Occupancy sensors are used for motion-activated lighting control. The two ways they do this, that I am familiar with, is through the use of passive infrared (PIR) or Ultrasonic Technology (US), or a combination of the two. Regardless of which one you use, the field of view for the sensor must be selected and adjusted so that it responds only to motion in the space served by the controlled lighting.

Ultrasonic  works a certain area by sending out ultrasonic soundwaves.  The outbound US sound waves first emit throughout the room / area then reflect back off of objects after "striking" them.  The US is able to measure these frequencies.  When it senses a change between the emission (going out) of the wave's frequency and when it reflects (return) it turns the lights on.

Passive Infrared technology is different.  It can tell if someone (or something) is in the room based on heat.  PIR  basically looks at the heat being generated in various spaces throughout an area.  The various spaces are not random. PIR basically subdivides the area using special lens.  When the emission of heat differs from one space to the next, it can be presumed that someone is walking through that area. This would turn on the lights.

Combinations of both technologies can be used to exploit the benefits of both.  PIR is great for 'big' movement such as running down a hall, whereas US is better suited for subtle movement (such as things you'd do while sitting at a desk).  PIR reliability is reduced if there is something blocking the space. US is not affected by obstructions (thought I admit, I'm not sure why).

That is a simple overview and, honestly, the total extent of my knowledge on this subject. I found it interesting and hope you do to. Feel free to comment.

Where Do I Find My Printer's IP Address

If you have a wireless router set up and your printer is on you PC network then your printer will have an IP address.

I recently ran into an issue where I could not get anything to print on my HP Photosmart Printer D110.  It was quite an exercise in patience for me to figure out what was wrong with it but I eventually was able the troubleshoot the problem without causing great bodily harm to myself or to my computer.

On of the tests called for me to take a look at my printer's IP address. The problem was I had no idea where to find this.  I may have written it down a long time ago but I sure could not remember if I did.

There are actually a couple different places to find this information

1.  Your Computer.  I'm on Windows 7 but this probably works or is similar to other versions.  Go to Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Devices and Printers.

Then find your printer icon on the screen. Right click on this icon and choose "Printer Properties" - "General" tab - Then look to the "location" field and you'll see your IP number.  Note you only need to know the number/decimal portion . The "IP=" is just for clarity.

2. Your Printer Can Tell You.  This is an easier way to check but I figure you might not be using the same printer as me and the "Your Computer" might be more universal.  I use an HP Photosmart D110. The easiest way for me to check IP address is to go to press my 'wireless' button twice and when on the wireless screen (on your printer not on your PC monitor), you'll see the IP address at the top of your printer's screen.

3. You can also address by running a wireless network test report right from your printer. On my printer I follow the same steps in #2 above and then I scroll down to "Run Wireless Network Test"  A page will print out showing your IP address (as well as hardware address, network name, configuration source, etc).  If you are only looking for the IP, then this is a bit redundant since you will already be able to see it without going through all this.

How to Find Your Network Key Code Router Password

If you run into an issue where you need your Network Key Code you might find yourself scrambling to see where you wrote that passcode down.  This password is needed from time to time when you are working on or setting up your computer network / wireless router.

I last needed the Network Key Code when I found myself running into problems printing wireless on HP Photosmart printer.  I could not seem to connect to the router, had issues with ports and other connection issues. The solution I found required me to enter this pass code and I was beside myself.  It had been so long since I used this password that I had forgotten it.  Even worse, I discovered that I never wrote the code down somewhere in case I forgot it.

I figured I was among thousands of PC users who had lost their own key codes in the past so I wasn't too hard on myself.  I also figured that it must be on my PC somewhere.

It was certainly was!

Here is where I found the code. Keep in mind I am running Microsoft PC Windows 7

Go to control panel - network and internet - network and sharing center

Next to the phrase "access type connections" click on the link "Wireless Network Connection"

-A window will pop up - click 'wireless properties' button

When the next window pops up, click the 'security' tab at top. Within this tab your network security key will appear in the center of the window.

Black Particle Pieces on Office Floor Rug Mat - Need Wheels For Chair

For weeks I notice that the rug on my office floor and the chair mat that protects the rug was getting littered with these mysterious little black pieces.   These little black marks are pliable, soft, and light.  Every day they would appear on the floor and then by morning they would disappear.

The disappeared each night because the maintenance team would vacuum my floor and they'd be gone.  It wasn't until the janitor asked me, "Hey, what are those little things

What Are These Small Black Particles on the Ground ?

We'll, it turns out they pieces off the caster wheels on my chair.  I really like the chair I have in my office and it was pretty expensive so I have decided to keep using this chair until it is not longer comfortable or until it simply won't work anymore.  I have had the chair for years. The chair has held up great but the caster wheels over time, just like tires on a car, must have simply worn out.

Are All The Office Chair Wheels Shedding Tread?

Actually no, some are in good shape but two wheels are shedding little black pieces. One is real bad.

Is it Time to Buy a New Office Chair?

No. The office chair is in great shape.  If your chair is in good shape don't by a new office chair, just get new wheels for your chair.  Chair wheels are referred to as "caster" wheels. Casters can differ in quality and size but they all allow you chair to roll in any direction.

What Is a CVV2 Number - Find On Credit Card?

I'm sure that non- user friendly credit card terms drive you crazy.  I mean, who in their right mind wants to look up the meaning of every word related to credit cards, credit card terms and conditions, interest rates, penalties, late fees, etc.

So, recently when buying something with my credit card on line I was asked for my CVV2 number.  What the heck is a CVV2 number anyway?

Well, it turns out it is that little three digit security code on the back of your card.  Why didn't they just say "the three digit security code on the back of your card" ?  You got me. Regardless, it means the same thing.

Anyway, next time someone asks you for the CVV2 number, that is what it is. You find it right on the back of your card.

CVV by the way means "Card Verification Value"  Makes sense right? Not.  LOL

Definition of All Samsung Reality Phone Icons

I realized recently  that i really did not know what all those text message envelopes on my reality cell phone mean. Actually, I really did not know what any of the icons anywhere on the phone meant.  I went to the manual that came with my Samsung Reality phone. I was hoping there was a page that showed an image of each icon and then defined it.  No such luck!  The Samsung Reality users manual is really just a quick way to get your started and not meant to make you a true cell phone expert.

I went on line to look for some answers as to what these text message envelope icons mean.  I eventually found out that all the answers I need where hidden on my phone.

Your Samsung Reality cell phone has a glossary, sort of anyway, of all those little image icons.  It isn't real easy to find but once you do, you'll be able to tell what icons mean "message pending", what icons mean "message sending" failed, "message sent", received, opened, etc.

Just follow these steps:

Go to the Main Menu

Press "Settings and Tools"

Press " * Phone Info"   (please note: if you can not find this, you may have accidentally hit the "tools" button. For some reason I kept doing this like a dope :)

Press  "#3 Icon Glossary"

From there select the part of the phone where you were seeing the icon and it will take you to the icon glossary. For example if you are looking for a definition of an icon (like those pesky envelopes) in your text messages, press "#5 Messaging"

I hope that helps!

How Long Do Wireless Mouse Batteries Last?

If you are concerned about purchasing a wireless mouse for fear that you will be constantly replacing batteries you do not have to worry.   Your wireless mouse batteries will not wear out often.

I know that you are thinking that you'll use the mouse very often, literally every time you turn on your computer.  The batteries must run out fast right? After all, digital cameras and other electronic devices use up batteries so much that you eventually wind up spending more money on batteries than you did the hardware.

So do they run out quickly? Nah.

Actually, your mouse uses very little energy and the battery or batteries that you have in there is more than enough to power your mouse for a long time.

I used two AA Energizer batteries in my mouse. I clearly remember when I put these batteries in because I really wanted to track how long it would take before than ran out of energy.

The batteries lasted 11 months.  This is was on my home computer, which I use very actively every day.

Also, just so you know, your mouse won't drop dead the second your battery runs low. A pop up window will appear on your screen that reads something like, "The wireless mouse battery level is critically low. Replace the batteries now to keep the wireless moue functioning"

What PA Pennsylvania Municipality Do I Live In?

The other day I was asked to fill out a form where I had to include both the name of the city I live in and my municipality.
I always thought that my city and municipality were the same thing but apparently that is not always the case.  If you run into a situation where you need to identify your municipality but can't, don't worry, there is a website that will help you to find your municipality no problem.

I'll run you through the basic steps so you can locate your municipality.  This article is for those looking for a municipality in Pennsylvania ( PA ).

Step 1
Copy and paste this site URL http://munstatspa.dced.state.pa.us/FindLocalTax.aspx into your web browser

(I think that is the easiest way, another way to do it is www.newpa.com - Get Local Gov't Support - Municipal Statistics but sometimes I get 'lost' navigating this path, just plug in the above URL and you'll get there faster.)

Step 2
When this page comes up, look to the left of your screen.  There is a link called "Find Your Municipality"    Go ahead and click this link

Step 3
Fill in your address in the blanks provided.  Then click the "Find Municipality" button.  Your pop-up blocker will probably show up.

Step 4
If you get the pop up warning at the top of the screen, go ahead and allow pop ups.  I hit the temporarily allow pop-ups but I'll leave that choice to you.

Step 5
Your municipality will show up along with your school district. Municipality on the left, school district on the right.

I hope that helps you to locate the municipal information you want.  I like that website because it also provides you with your school district (PSD) code, school district ( PSD ) name and you can also review your local  / municipal tax rates.

Pretty handy and easy to use.

How to Get an Aerial View of Your House

How to get a photo from the sky of your home.

Hi! Have you ever wanted to see an Aerial view of your neighborhood or house? Do you lack the pilots license necessary to experience these views? Never fear you can simply look at it on the internet. This is easy. Read on to learn how to Get an Aerial View of Your House .

Difficulty:
Easy

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • Internet connection
    • Step 1
It's amazing all the stuff you can find on the internet. Even a picture of the roof of your home! Pretty simple too...
    • Step 2
First connect to the internet and go to www.google.com
    • Step 3
In the Google web browser type in your complete address followed by the word "map" (don't use quotes though :-). For example (not a real address but just a 'for instance' ): 123 Blogger Avenue, Blogspot, PA 19104 map
    • Step 4
A map will appear at the top of the search with your address linked right next to the map. Click on the address link.....
    • Step 5
An expanded map will appear. Now for the cool part, at the top of the map click on the second button from the right called "Satellite"

    • Step 8
Sometimes you might have to pan the map left or right (simply do this by dragging the map with your cursor) to position the view directly over your home, but this is unusual. Typically the aerial view of your house will be just about dead center of the map.

How to Repair a Concrete Floor Crack

Repairing Cracks in Concrete Floors

If you have an old concrete floor at home you've probably experienced a good number of cracks. Repairing it takes a little elbow grease but it is not too difficult. Read on to learn how to repair a concrete floor crack

Difficulty:
Moderate

Instructions

    • 1
Very important, wear safety glasses! Concrete can splinter and fly into your eye. Also chisels and hammers sometimes break too... wear those safety glasses!!
    • 2
If you see a crack running along your concrete floor believe it or not, you'll have to make it bigger, so grab your cold (box) chisel and hammer...
    • 3
Use the hammer and chisel to cut back the sides of the crack. That is, make the crack wider. You don't have to make it too wide, just make it wide enough so that you can envision packing mortar into the crack.
    • 4
Once the crack is wider, use a hand brush or broom to brush away the dust and fragments
    • 5
Take your small paint brush and apply white general purpose PVA building adhesive into the crack. This will help the repair mortar stick better to the crack
    • 6
Following directions on the packaging, mix your quick setting repair mortar.
    • 7
Using your trowel, fill the crack with the mortar. Then use the edge of the trowel to level it flat so that it is level with the rest of the floor.
    • 8
Sit back and admire your work. Let it harden.

How to Fix A Front Door that Won't Stay Closed Shut

Fixing Doors that Won't Stay Closed Shut

Hi! Do you have a front door that just won't stay closed? Does it open even after you give it a good slam? Read on to learn how to fix a front door that won't stay closed shut . This works best with wood door jambs

Difficulty:
Moderately Easy

Instructions

    • 1
If you find yourself slamming your front door and it still opens at the slightest breeze... if you find you need to 'pull up' on the door knob to get it to latch closed .... if you need to use the dead bolt to keep the door closed, read on, this fix may work for you.....
    • 2
Most likely what is happening is your front door has become slightly looser in the top hinge than the bottom hinges. The door then tilts ever slightly downward just enough to where the latch misses the hole in the door jamb that receives the latch.
    • 3
Essentially, what is happening is the latch strikes just slightly below the hole in the door jamb instead of going into the hole. This is why you might find if you pull up on the door knob, the door closes properly
    • 4
To fix this, first try to simply tighten the top hinge. Tighten it tight but don't do anything that will risk stripping the screw in hole. This will only loosen the door more.
    • 5
I suggest when you do this, only tighten the top hinge. Leave the others alone. By tightening the top hinge only, the door will stand up straight again.
    • 6
If this doesn't work, it is because the screw isn't 'biting' into the wood as well as it used to. To remedy, buy a longer screw (you may be able to get away with just one) and replace the top screw in the top hinge.
    • 7
When switching to a larger screw. Check to be sure you have room to screw the entire screw in. For example, if you have a small window pane just on the other side of the hinge, be sure you have enough room to take the whole screw. Be careful too if there is a light switch or outlet on the other side as well. You don't want to hit any wires. (I'm not sure I've ever had a problem with this, but I just want to be sure you are safe :-)
    • 8
If for whatever reason you can't use a longer screw, see if you can use a thicker screw. The holes in the hinge may tolerate the next size up in diameter.
    • 9
This should help your door to close better. Thanks for reading my How to Fix A Front Door that Won't Stay Closed Shut :-) Hope that helps, feel free to comment. I'd love to hear from you.
