Difficulty:
Easy

Instructions

    • 1
First, fill any pot with enough water that the eggs are completely submerged. Don't fill the water too high as it might bubble over the side of the pot when boiling. Use hot tap water as this will boil faster than if you use cold.
    • 2
Put the eggs in the pot. If you've used real hot water, use a spoon to put them in. Don't get burned :-) As you put the eggs in, the water will rise. Pour off excess water if it rises too close to the top of the pot
    • 3
Turn the flame (or electric) under the pot on high.
    • 4
When the water comes to a strong boil, let the eggs boil for a minute or two..
    • 5
...then turn the flame (or electric) off.
    • 6
Let the eggs sit in the hot water for at least twenty minutes. During this time, they'll hard boil to perfection. I like this part as the hot water does the job without the stove running. I can go out, run an errand, take a nap, etc.
    • Here's the part a lot of people overlook and it really does make your life easier if you do it.  If you drain the water out while it is still piping hot, transfer the eggs into ice cold water. I usually put a bunch of ice into water in a mixing bowl, put the eggs into the ice water and put the bowl into the fridge. This will help separate the membrane from the egg white and the shell. The shell comes off way easier if you do this.
